BMW intros all-electric C1-E scooter for eco-riders
Desh | Oct 12 2009

Already a hit when introduced 10 years back, BMW now has added another feather to C1’s cap in making it all electric. The updated electric vehicle dubbed BMW C1-E is a perfect, eco-friendly solution to the city congestion. Its drivetrain houses a Vectrix-sourced electric motor that is powered by Lithium-Ion batteries.

The single-track vehicle developed for eSUM, a European initiative involving local authorities in Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and London, features innovative safety features like a tire-pressure monitoring system, traction control and anti-lock brakes. Sorry if you were looking for that pillion seat behind the cabin, it’s no more there. Other features include an aluminium frame, front crumple zone, rollover bar, and a harness-style seat belt for extra safety on those busy lanes.
