Cameron Rosen, the project manager of a residential development at Rose Bay, is a true environmentalist. He adopts sustainable practices in his projects and is seen challenging local builders and their clients these days to develop houses that include maximum green features and affordability at the same time. In 2008, Rosen gave birth to Australian Living, a sustainable building management and consultancy to encourage sustainable building practices.
With the promotion of sustainable building industry in mind, he introduced the “Eco-Challenge” to give homeowners an opportunity to design the most sustainable house they can afford. Under this project, four houses on a block of land at Rose Bay were constructed with the maximum amount of eco-friendly features.
One of the houses was built under his observation, while three other families were brought in with a challenge to construct the most efficient and sustainable house but paying special attention to affordability. Architects got recycled concrete into use bringing down the greenhouse gases by 14 tons. One of the four homes was awarded an eight-star rating for thermal performance.
