Copenhagen is what is all over the news this December. Just to warm thing up for the Climate Conference in Copenhagen that is to be held from 6 December to 18 December, a climate camp was organized for little children. Dubbed the ‘Creative Climate Camp’, the event bought 200 children from all across the globe to the city so that they could learn about climate change and give innovative ideas on how to help the environment.
Big discussions on topics like CO2 or melting snow become an overdose for young children. So, to lighten things a little and make knowledge delivery a lot more interesting and fun, trash-art was thought to be the perfect choice. The camp organized by Heerup Museum in collaboration with many others used art as a tool to discuss climate change with children in creative ways.
During the event, small children displayed their innovative creation that included a library out of old books spreading the message of saving paper and a beautiful vertical forest for people living in the city. The forest made by a 11 year old Ida Thyregod Nielsen is made using old plastic bags and flowers from egg trays. All the children at the camp have prepared for the camp working on school projects for the ‘Things Talk’ network. The Creative Climate Camp proved to be a brilliant idea for transforming kids into young environmentalists.
