Earthquake any time in southern California
AMIT | Aug 14 2007

It is time California got ready for a severe earthquake that would shake it to its core. An disastrous earthquake can strike any moment.

California is vulnerable to severe earthquakes because of the San Andreas Fault, which being a transform or strike-slip rupture runs from west and southern California enables the movement of the land west of the fault in northwest direction while eastern one moves south westward. It means California is under severe stress especially southern part, where rigorous earthquakes happen to level everything.

The problem with the earthquakes is that they cannot be predicted. However, the San Andreas Fault has earlier triggered disastrous earthquakes, an inkling of times to come. The region has been witness to some of the severest earthquakes in history and is one of the most fragile parts of the earth that would put life into peril, destroy and rupture buildings, uproot railways and highways, cause landslides, wildfires along with devastating, marooning, ruining and killing hundreds of thousands of humans, animals and plants.

California is one of the most active contributors to the U.S. economy and is such a huge magnitude earthquake was to happen, it will significantly impact the U.S.

Therefore, the need of the day is a disaster management strategy that can help the state recoup from the disaster.
