Electrorad 3-way renewable energy fence to keep your abode warm
Desh | Nov 24 2009

Electrorad, the electric heating systems supplier from the U.K. takes a giant leap towards the utilization of three forms of renewable energy via a single product that is named as Thermosolar Fence. The unique contraption makes use of the solar, ground source and air source to produce 1kw (3414 BTU) of heating from each 1 meter of fence. An impressive coefficient of performance (COP) reading 5 speaks volumes about its efficiency.

Since it doubles up as a fence, it is worth installing in gardens or close to a house wall. The fence has sequenced absorber pipes filled up with a thermal fluid and are seated one upon another. A 0.5 m space separates the surface pipes (one meter above the ground) from the underground pipes (one meter below the ground level). A 6-meter length of fence suffices for a total heat collection area of over 400 meters of absorber pipes. More suited to wintry days when sun appears for a brief spell, the fluid temperature goes higher than expected owing to the ground source. Even on cloudy days, the comparatively warmer surface fluid produces some warmth as it passed through the underground pipes.

Well, the simple installation requires less than one meter wide and 1.5 meters deep trench and so, doesn’t demand too much of space either.
