Over the years, we have seen radios transform from huge ugly boxes to small, portable, chic-looking ones. But here is something unusual. The new Flexio Solar Radio is a paper-packed radio that is solar powered. This innovative gadget is printable and inexpensive. Capable of receiving only one fixed channel, this unique radio designed by Wu Kun-chia, Wang Shih-ju, Chen Ming-daw and Liou Chang-ho is quite small, giving you the freedom to carry it anywhere.
Flexio comes equipped with a flexible speaker and flexible solar cell on its inner side. These two attached to either inner side of the radio give you the freedom to store it anywhere without having to worry about it breaking in half. Despite all its pros, it also has a dark side to it: It can tune to only one predetermined station. But, we can hope to see the radio receiving internet radio via Wi-Fi or WiMax in the near future.

This would be neat if it could be incorporated with an e-ink type of display into a magazine. Imagine, opening the cover of rolling stone and seeing moving pictures, plus sound streamed over FM of whatever band you’re reading about at the time. The magazine could buy a frequency slot for the month of publication.
