Gesterbine: A visionary skyscraper inspired by human kinetics

At the eVolo Skyscraper Competition, the Polish architecture firm Mode:Lina Architektura & Consulting suggests a solution to lower precipitation, high evaporation and high permeability of soil in the central part of the Warta River bed in Greater Poland. They have named their skyscraper the Gesterbine, which actually is an abbreviated form of gesture + water + turbine. The skyscraper includes and utilizes a string of wind turbines, human kinetics and water.

During the day, when there is a high energy demand, Gesterbine generates ample electricity for the surrounding households, offices and farms. When it’s night, the turbines power the water pumps to transport river water into the land. This collected water accrues to small retention water reservoirs across the land. This action accompanies planting of new trees to retain the surface water level within the land, and to raise the level of ground water.

The form imitates human gesture kinetics – vectorized to build an energy-producing skyscraper. Each of the wind turbines consists of two rings connected with a bolt, wherein the inner ring changes its angle toward the wind direction.

All the features of skyscraper are great.Wind power is increasing in popularity as an energy source.A drawback to wind power is that the wind can be erratic, changing direction by the hour.
