The architects at Gray Organschi Architecture have designed a simple but innovative structure from raw materials giving a completely new meaning to creativity. This amazing storage barn was build by converting a place that was once a residence to a scrap lumberyard. Storing lumber into a rectangular cube hole in a well-organized manner, it creates a beautiful mosaic-like texture with the stone structure. Bringing creativity and functionality under one roof, the structure uses translucent polycarbonate panels for the walls to facilitate day lighting.
The beautiful storage barn is designed keeping all the environmental aspects in mind. It uses solar panels on the roof to generate electricity and ground source pumps to heat the building geo-thermally. The extra energy generated by the solar panels is sold to a local utility company by the owner, making him some profit. Gray Organschi Architecture was recognized as an Emerging Voice by the Architectural League of New York for 2009.
