The US based blue-chip companies and leading environmental group have called American president Bush to quickly bring out a law so that rapidly increasing emission of greenhouse gases could be checked. The group has also warned against any postponement in prompt action to curb emissions as it could be lead to hazardous results. The group is committed to cut greenhouse gases by more than 60% by 2050.
The group named-US Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), said in a statement to President Bush:
We can and must take prompt action to establish a coordinated, economy-wide market-driven approach to climate protection.
Notably, America withdrew from the Kyoto protocol in 2001. Earlier President Bush has rejected to enact any such law on carbon dioxide and other CFC gases.
As per the White House sources, President Bush will address the issue in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday not, but again will not introduce binding rules for emissions. However, the Bush may announce important guidelines about energy efficiency and greenhouse gases.
The group will unveil its plan on the eve of President Bush’s State of the Union speech, and try to make pressure on federal government to take swift action on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and speeding the adoption of climate-friendly technology. It is an indeed a good sign that leading companies and environment philanthropists have teamed up for this noble cause.
