Japan's Tokai Challenger leads the 2009 World Solar Car Challenge

On day 2 of the 2009 Global Green Challenge, the Tokai University solar car #60 Tokai Challenger is showing others the way. Having covered a distance of 1531 kilometers from the Darwin start and walking over the Alice Springs checkpoint, the Japanese green car powered by 2176 solar cells is dominating the race. It’s well ahead of #2 Infinium (University of Michigan Solar Car Team) which is camped north of Alice Springs, 1465 kilometers from the start. Not too far behind, in third position overnight, is car #3 Nuna V (Nuon Solar Team) from the Netherlands, having reached north of Alice Springs 1445 kilometers from Darwin. The Eco Challenge field completed day 3 of its journey with an overnight stop in Alice Springs.
