Kyocera offers solar systems to 15 Ugandan schools
Desh | Oct 12 2009

Given that the local government of Uganda could not do much to promote the use of solar power in the country, Kyocera Corporation will now install 600-watt solar power generating systems including storage batteries in 15 schools. Considering a nation where kerosene lamps and self-powered generators still reign supreme, it is definitely a worth mentioning contribution and might encourage the government itself to switch to alternative energy. The campaign will continue over the next five years.

Kyocera hopes to redefine the practice of imparting education in Uganda. Accordingly, the energy generated via the use of solar installations will illuminate the classrooms and power T.V. and radios for educational purposes. Each year, three new schools will see them transformed into hubs of solar energy.
