Mario Steiner's contraption, the world's first hybrid horse carriage, is up and running
Desh | Oct 26 2009

Not being a staunch believer in the green movement, Mario Steiner from Austria has still managed to make ecofriends consider his ingenuity. Just recently, he came up with the world’s first hybrid horse carriage that has a 48-volt electrical motor to power it when the going gets tough for the animal; it switches drivers. The entire project took more than two years toward completion searching for info on parallels.

Actually, the electric battery keeps charging when the animal pulls the carriage and that is the reason, maybe, why PETA does not smell a rat since it indirectly lightens their burden. Moreover, while he doesn’t go for petrol or diesel versions, his contraption is perfectly suited to the pristine glory of the Tyrolean mountains around his hometown of Matrei.
