As part of a commendable move (Ontario’s Electric Vehicle initiative) to support green transportation, the Ontario administration will issue green license plates for ecofriendly plug-in hybrids and battery-only powered cars. The standard gas/electric hybrid vehicles are excluded from the new plate program. Well, those affluent roadrunners need to wait a year at the least to flaunt these tokens of eco-responsibility.

The plate has a green border and print on a white base. The move will definitely encourage the likes of Tesla, General Motors and Toyota to bring newer versions on road. The vehicles donning these plates will have access to high occupancy vehicle lanes until 2015.
