Sanyo sets up solar-powered e-bike charging station
Desh | Feb 16 2009

In a bid to promote the eneloop bike and use of solar energy, Sanyo is all set to bring in a solar bicycle parking lot at the Tokushima Prefectural Government Office in Japan. Sanyo has gifted three bikes to the prefecture and the workers can use them for official purposes. As CG reports, this parking lot will come complete with a wholly automatic charging station and solar panels on the roof. Mind you, it’ll be possible to charge electric bicycles without using a commercial power supply even at night or rainy days. Also, Sanyo’s HIT solar panel units aim at producing 690kWh of energy. So, it’s indeed a great initiative to lessen dependence upon conventional sources of energy.
