No one would ever listen to those yelling cops trying to keep traffic in order. More often than not, their bawls fall on deaf ears. Maybe, to alter this practice and instill a sense of self-discipline among drivers, the city of Calgary has just recently installed solar-powered anti-speeding devices along Mayland Heights. The speed-readers keep on reminding one of the allowed speed limit. Once you cross it, a reminder flashes through the bright lights to deject rash driving.

The solar powered “vehicle activated traffic-calming signs” have no ground wiring and they run at minimal operating costs. Calgary purchased 16 of them at $5,940 a pop.
