Sony shows ‘Grape power’ at Tokyo's Eco Products fair
Desh | Dec 12 2009

Sony just recently unveiled a futuristic technology that converts grape sugar or glucose into electricity. The venue is Tokyo’s Eco Products Fair, where more than 18,000 people, including kids, will attend a three-day event. Sony will also introduce its new concept battery that makes use of a particular glucose-based fuel to charge electronics.

The environment and the future are both resting on children’s shoulders, so we hope to somehow spark their interest and find ways to encourage both lifestyles and actions kind to the environment.

Says Kazuko Takamatsu, Sr. General Manager, Sony Environmental Center.

Since will we need to make more and more use of alternative fuels in the future, the kids should learn the basics of avoiding fossil fuels. Accordingly, 1,600 displays are there at the fair to provide these children with a visual demo of the technology.
