Virginia couple makes impressive artwork from recycled glass bottles
Desh | Nov 23 2009

Cliff Rock and Claudia Rexroad reprocess about 5 tons of discarded glass bottles every year to create lifelike objects out of it. They’re making a decent living by creating paperweights, sculptures, vases, jewelry and a lot more at the Willow Creek Glass. Taking their hobby to a higher level, they plan to build a home from recycled wood and glass collected from scrap piles.

Since they’re running their business from home itself and are being offered tremendous support by the local community in the form of heaps of glass bottles, the only expenditure they need to cater for is the propane used for melting down the glass. Recognized well at festivals, grand openings and artisan shows, they just recently displayed their art at the Tamarack arts center in Beckley.

Claudia hopes to bring West Virginia on the world map as the “Recycling State.” She is confident to get a positive response from different communities and solid waste authorities.
