Researchers have found out that in the 20th century, the flow from the world’s big continental rivers has increased by about four percent, coinciding with an increase in the average global temperature of some 1 C (1.8 F).

British scientists have found that rising levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) are causing plants, trees and shrubs to be less thirsty, which in turn is causing a big increase in water runoff from the land and multiplying the risk of floods.
