World’s first fuel cell-powered passenger boat – Ferry me green
Deepa | Aug 30 2008

Germany maneuvered a smart, green move that also bagged the tag of the world’s first fuel cell-powered passenger boat for commercial use by launching the FCS Alsterwasser. Powered by twin fuel-cell motors produced by Proton Motor, it can carry up to 100 passengers at a time without leaving any carbon prints behind. Intended to cruise through the city of Hamburg, it sails by burning hydrogen without generating carbon dioxide.

Till date such a fuel cell system has only been developed for submarines used by the military. Hence this makes the ZemShip (Zero Emission Ship) the world’s first project resulting in a fuel cell-driven passenger ship.

Hope to see such eco-friendly passenger boats all over the globe to allow passengers to enjoy a green voyage with zero emissions.

This is good news... Solar, Wind and now fuel cell powered boat. With so many green options being tried out, we can hope to see these Green powered boats becoming common. Though I doubt we can have the likes of QM2 or super liners going green in near future.

It’s beautiful...

nice..
