The future housing projects will seek to provide its inhabitants with on-site power generation so that they don’t have to rely on external power sources. One such zero-energy concept project, dubbed as Housing+, featured a 60-residence colony designed by C.F. Moller Architects. Planned next to Aalborg Waterfront in Denmark, the mega project will be studded with 1200 square meter of solar array to meet its energy requirements.
Since the project is located beside the Limfjord, its natural location is suited for installing the solar arrays that will go on to generate 104.400 KW-h of electricity needed annually. Apart from the solar energy, the project will utilize heat pumps and a highly insulated water-tank for power. Moreover, the residential area will tout four VAWT (Vertical Axis Wind Turbines) for recharging the electric cars of the locality.
The zero-energy master plan for providing sustainable abode to its future dwellers was among the five consortia to generate a proposal for the pilot-project Housing+.
